Client: Woodbridge School
Contract Value: £60,000
Founded in 1577, Woodbridge School is an independent school originally for the poor of Woodbridge. It was later supported by the Seckford Foundation.
Woodbridge School has been co-educational since September 1974.
Comprising of a number of buildings, fire management procedures, including the evacuation of the buildings and reporting of their status was a concern to the School Management team and as a consequence a tender process was instigated to design a solution to:
a) Link all the buildings onsite to a Central Security Reception, using wireless technology
b) Provide facilities at Central Reception to evacuate buildings individually or globally
c) Upgrade individual fire alarm systems as necessary to facilitate (a) and (b)
BBC Fire & Security, under competitive tender provided the required technical solution within budget and could most importantly, deliver the solution during the School Summer recess.
The solution was based upon using Hyfire wireless fire alarm transceivers connected to existing fire alarm systems in outbuildings.
Each building in turn was then linked to a Notifier front end Control and Evacuation Panel via the Hybrid Wireless Technology.
