Client: University of London, Stewart House
Contract Value: £350,000
The University Estate Strategy agreed in 2002 how University and College occupations across the University Estate might be rationalised over time and provided for the central University to be co-located in and around Senate House.
The proposed vacation of Stewart House by Edexcel in December 2004 enabled the co-location of a significant part of the central University to occur, and also the integration of the Senate House Library with Institutes’ libraries to form the University of London Research Libraries.
Having successfully carried out contracts for the University for the Senate House and Birkbeck College buildings, BBC Fire & Security was recommended by the University to the Contracting team to carry out the Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression works as part of the overall Building refurbishment works.
Working to a particularly ‘tight’ works programme, BBC Fire & Security was commissioned by the M & E Contractor, Gratte Brothers, to Design, Supply and Install an L1 category Fire Detection and Alarm System to the Building.
We also provided a Networking, High Sensitivity Smoke Detection and Argonite Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems to the University of London Central Computer Facility which were re-located to Stewart House.
