Client: University of London, Birkbeck College
Contract Value: £250,000+
Since 1823, Birkbeck has forged its own path in higher education, reaching out to people traditionally excluded by other universities.
Today, Birkbeck is one of the UK’s leading centres of excellence in teaching and research.
Having successfully installed and maintained the Fire Detection and Alarm System in the neighbouring and listed University building, Senate House, BBC Fire & Security was invited and successfully tendered for the Design and Installation of a new Fire Detection and Alarm System for Birkbeck College.
This incorporated and complied with the latest BS5839 requirements and the Disabled Discrimination Act which required the incorporation of Visual Warning Devices and Door Controls.
Working mainly out of normal working hours, to accommodate the everyday functions and purpose of the College, BBC Fire & Security successfully completed the project on time, on budget, and to the Client’s entire satisfaction.
Over 700 automatic fire detectors, were installed and connected to a Network of Fire Alarm Panels to protect the staff, students and this important historic building and its contents.
