Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University (SLCU) is a research institute funded by the Gatsby Foundation. The aim of the Laboratory is to explore the regulatory systems underlying plant growth and development.
The laboratory runs a range of centrally man-aged facilities and services including Plant Growth Facilities, Microscopy, Biophotonics and IT services.
Having worked at many faculties on the University campus, and as a LPCB approved Company to the LPS1014 scheme, BBC Fire & Security was selected as a preferred bidder for the works and through a competitive tendering process, were awarded the contract to provide a new fire alarm system for the building by the Electrical Contractors Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Ltd.
BBC Fire & Security installed a LPCB approved Notifier System using a Network of ID3000 Control Panels and over 400 compatible LPCB approved Call Points, Automatic Fire Detectors and Audio Visual Warning Devices.
Air Sampling Smoke Detection Systems were installed to high level, difficult to access areas, as part of our CDM Design responsibilities.
DDA Compliant Disabled Refuge Intercom Systems were also incorporated as part of our contract works.
BBC Fire & Security has been a Notifier Engineered Systems Distributor since 1993 and through a rigorous quality audit process have been awarded Notifier ‘Gold’ Partner status.
