Over many years the Fire Detection and Alarm Systems at Selfridges had evolved into a myriad of differing equipment, technologies and systems, eventually becoming very difficult to manage and maintain.

As part of a major financial investment Selfridges had to review their Fire Precautions and as a result decided they needed to invest in a completely new Fire Detection and Voice Alarm System.

BBC Fire & Security was interviewed and selected onto the Tender list, and was awarded the contract on our ability to satisfy the client that the works would be carried out with the least disruption to the trading operations of the store.

Working mainly out of hours, to accommodate this, BBC Fire & Security successfully completed the project on time, on budget, and to the Client’s entire satisfaction.

Over 1500 automatic fire detectors, and 2000 Speakers were installed and connected to a Network of Fire Alarm Panels and Voice Alarm Racks to protect the Customers, staff, and trading operations of this landmark building.

To help monitor and manage the system a Computer Graphics Monitoring System was also provided as part of the contract.
